Every ornament in our catalog is hand-embroidered in India by master artisans working in the tradition of zardozi — a discipline whose roots run back more than four centuries to the karkhanas of the Mughal courts, and whose lineage in Banaras and Lucknow has been passed quietly from one generation of craftspeople to the next.

The work begins with a raw silk or velvet base, stretched drum-tight on a wooden adda. A motif is pricked and pounced onto the cloth in chalk. From there, the artisan works couched gold and silver bullion — fine metallic coil — onto the surface with a hooked needle called an aari, anchoring each stitch with silk thread. Sequins, river pearls, and faceted glass are added one piece at a time.

A single small patch can take a full day. A larger crest or border can take several. There are no shortcuts, no machines, no shippable shortcuts to the look. What you receive has been touched, in sequence, by the same set of hands from start to finish.

We work directly with small ateliers, staying deeply connected to their world to ensure we add value back to their community. With Roopa living locally, she works closely with our Hyderabad artisans to bring bespoke designs and flawless quality to life. Our production runs are kept intentionally small to keep the focus entirely on the craft. We work with our artisans, by mutually setting fair per-piece wages. Now, we are proud to introduce these incredible luxury crafts to the US, with plans to share them with the world soon.
